Internal Communications Manager

Grocery Outlet is looking for a dynamic and strategic writer, storyteller and project manager that isn’t afraid to jump in on projects, is solution-oriented and has a knack for problem solving. The ideal candidate has a natural ability to convey complicated topics and information in a simple and creative way. The Manager of Internal Communications will work with internal stakeholders to help them optimally reach the right audience, with the right message, at the right time, through the right channels. This person will act as an internal marketer and should always be looking for new and exciting ways to reach our employees. This role reports to the Sr. Director Communications Events & PR.
Responsibilities Include:
Develop and lead strategic internal communications plans to support key business initiatives, change management efforts and cultural priorities, ensuring alignment with company goals and leadership messaging
Oversee the creation and execution of compelling, high-impact communications and campaigns that engage employees and reinforce company values, partnering with key stakeholders to ensure clarity and consistency
Analyze and measure the effectiveness of internal communications strategies by tracking key metrics, gathering employee feedback and providing insights and recommendations when needed
Manage content, speakers and run-of-show for internal All Hands meetings
Develop content, design graphics, publish and track engagement for our weekly all-employee newsletter, The Bargain Bulletin
Support event planning and execution for various internal and external events
10% travel required throughout the year for store visits and various meetings
About You:
5+ years in marketing, communications, retail or related discipline
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field
Experience giving feedback to all levels and leading a small team a plus
Solid written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and an eye for catching spelling, grammar and sentence structure errors
Ability to quickly grasp information across a variety of disciplines and subsequently develop clear communications with minimal guidance
Strong project and program management skills, with the ability to drive and deliver multiple projects simultaneously
Open to feedback and suggestions: You thrive in a highly collaborative environment that is also rich in feedback
Experience successfully driving projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, often ambiguous, and ever-changing environment
Ability to build strong partnerships and influence cross-functionally and vertically throughout the organization
Experience with intranet and web-based email design platforms preferred
Advanced skills in Canva, Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Editor
